Weedland FAQ

What's AVB and what can I do with it?

Already Vaped Bud—the leftover flower from your dry herb vaporizer. It's already decarboxylated, meaning the THC is activated.

Save it. Infuse it into butter or coconut oil for edibles. Sprinkle it on food. Some people make capsules. It's not as potent as fresh flower, but it's not nothing either.

What's the point of an ash catcher?

It catches ash and debris before it reaches your bong water. Keeps your main piece cleaner longer. Some add extra percolation too.

Not essential. Nice to have if you're particular about maintenance.

Does the material of my pipe affect flavor?

Yes. Glass is non-porous and neutral—you taste only your flower. Metal can add a slight taste. Wood brings warmth but absorbs resin. Silicone is flavor-neutral when high-quality, but cheaper silicone can taste plasticky.

For purists: glass. For everything else: personal preference.

Should I use hemp wick instead of a lighter?

Hemp wick eliminates the butane taste from lighter fluid. You light the wick with your lighter once, then use the burning wick to light your bowl. Cleaner flavor, more control over the flame.

Some people swear by it. Others don't notice the difference. Worth trying if flavor matters to you.

Can I store ground flower?

You can, but it'll dry out faster and lose potency quicker. Grinding exposes more surface area to air.

Best practice: grind only what you need for that session. Keep the rest as whole flower.

What's the best smell-proof storage?

Airtight glass jars block most odor. UV-protected glass is even better—keeps light out while containing smell.

For maximum discretion, look for smell-proof containers with silicone seals or carbon-lined pouches. Some stash boxes are designed specifically for cannabis with humidity control built in.

Double-layering helps with particularly loud strains—jar inside a smell-proof bag.

How do I store flower to keep it fresh?

Airtight glass in a cool, dark place. UV light degrades THC. Heat releases odor and dries things out. Moisture causes mold.

Mason jars work. Purpose-built cannabis storage with humidity packs is better. Plastic bags are temporary at best—they're porous and leach chemicals.

Keep it away from heat sources, windowsills, and anywhere kids or pets can access.

How often should I clean my gear?

Bongs: Change the water after every session. Deep clean weekly if you use it regularly.

Pipes: Weekly cleaning keeps flavor pure and airflow clear.

Grinders: Monthly deep clean, or when it starts sticking.

Clean gear just hits better. No debate.

How do I clean my grinder?

Disassemble completely. Brush out loose material with a small brush or toothbrush. For deeper cleaning, soak the pieces in isopropyl alcohol for 20 minutes, scrub the teeth and screen, rinse and dry.

Before cleaning, put your grinder in the freezer for 30 minutes. The cold makes the kief brittle and easier to collect.

How do I clean my pipe?

Same principle. Place the pipe in a plastic bag with isopropyl alcohol and salt. Let it soak 30 minutes, shake occasionally, scrub with pipe cleaners if needed. Rinse well.

For glass pipes with complex shapes, longer soaking does the heavy lifting.

How do I clean my bong?

Isopropyl alcohol (91% or higher) and coarse salt. Pour both in, cover the openings, shake vigorously. The salt acts as an abrasive, the alcohol dissolves resin.

For stubborn buildup, let it soak for a few hours. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Let it dry completely before using.

Some people use specialized bong cleaners. ISO and salt work just as well and cost almost nothing.

Papers or cones?

Papers if you want to learn the craft. Pre-rolled cones if you want results without the learning curve. Just fill, pack, twist.

No shame in cones. They work.

How do you roll a joint?

Practice. A lot of practice.

Hold the paper with the glue strip at the top, facing you. If you're using a filter, fold a few small zigzags at one end, then roll it into a cylinder. Place it at the end of your paper—usually in your dominant hand for control.

Fold the paper like a taco, add your ground flower, and roll gently to shape it. Tuck the non-glue edge under, roll up, lick and seal. Twist the end.

Your first dozen will be ugly. Keep going.

What's the difference between conduction and convection vaporizers?

Conduction heats the chamber walls, which heat your flower. Faster, less expensive, can have hot spots.

Convection passes hot air through your flower. More even extraction, better flavor, usually pricier.

Both work. Convection generally wins on taste.

How do dry herb vaporizers work?

Like a tiny convection oven. Your flower sits in a chamber, heats evenly without combustion. Smoother hits, more terpene expression, less harsh on your lungs.

Bonus: what's left over—AVB, already vaped bud—can be saved and infused into butter or oil.

What accessories do I need for concentrates?

Concentrates require higher temperatures than flower. You'll need either a concentrate-specific vaporizer or a dab rig with a banger or nail. A dab tool to handle the product. A torch if you're going traditional.

Different world from flower. Start simple.

Glass or silicone bong?

Glass for purity. Non-porous, clean flavor, looks beautiful, lasts forever if you're careful. Accommodates percolators and accessories.

Silicone for durability. Nearly indestructible, travel-friendly, affordable. Won't break at the party.

Many people own both. Glass at home, silicone on the road.

What do percolators do?

They diffuse the smoke through water in different ways—tree percs, honeycomb, inline, showerhead. More bubbles, more filtration, smoother hits.

More percolation isn't always better. Sometimes simple is cleanest. Find what feels right.

What's the difference between a bong and a pipe?

Water filtration. A bong cools and smooths the smoke. Usually delivers bigger hits too.

Pipes are portable and discreet. Bongs are ritual pieces meant for home.

How do you hit a bong?

Fill the water just above the downstem. Enough to bubble, not enough to splash your face.

Pack the bowl. Light while inhaling slowly. When you're ready, pull the bowl out and clear the smoke in one breath from your diaphragm.

New to this? Small hits. Work your way up.

What's the carb - that littlel hole - on my pipe for?

The small hole on the side of your bowl. Cover it while you light, release it when you're ready to inhale. It clears the chamber. Essential for a complete hit.

Two-piece or four-piece grinder?

Two-piece is simple. Grind and dump.

Four-piece has a kief catcher—a bottom chamber that collects the potent trichomes that fall off your flower. It's basically a savings account for your future self.

Aluminum is standard. Ceramic coatings prevent sticking. Avoid plastic—it wears down and ends up in your bowl.

What accessories do I need for dried flower?

Storage first. Smell-proof, child-safe, somewhere you can find it. A grinder to break down the bud evenly. Then your consumption method—pipe, bong, papers, or vaporizer. An ashtray keeps things civilized.

What's a good starter kit budget?

Quality basics run $75-150. A solid grinder, simple glass pipe, decent storage.

Don't go cheaper—you'll replace it all within a year. Don't go crazy either. Learn what you actually like before investing in the good stuff.

What essentials do I need to get started?

Start with a grinder. Everything flows from there.

Pick your method: a pipe for simplicity, a bong for smooth hits, a vaporizer for the health-conscious, or papers if you like to roll. Add smell-proof storage and you're set.

Are these novel cannabinoids safe?

All of the products found on Weedland are vetted to be as safe as smoking legal weed. Always use caution when consuming any type of altering substance and consult your doctor if you have any medical concerns.

What other cannabinoids can you find on Weedland?

Cannabinoids without the traditional “high”:

  • CBD - Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second-most prevalent cannabinoid in the plant behind THCA. It’s known for its calming, relaxing, and pain relieving qualities
  • CBG - Cannabigerol (CBG) is a cannabinoid known for help managing pain and appetite stimulation

Mildly-psychoactive cannabinoids:

  • CBN - Cannabinol (CBN) is a mildly psychoactive compound that’s essentially a byproduct of THC. Most find CBN to be helpful for sleep issues.

Okay, what’s THCa, then?

THCa (Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the predecessor to THC. To convert THCa to THC, you simply heat, vape, or burn it — like, ya know, in a bong. If you’re looking for the most similar experience to good ol’ THC, this is your best bet. Just another little loophole we love to see :)

What about Delta-8 and Delta-10?

Delta-8 and Delta-10 are isomers of Delta-9, meaning they have the same molecular formula, but a different arrangement of atoms. Though there’s still not extensive research on the difference in effect, many find Delta-8 and Delta-10 to be a slightly more mild high than Delta-9.

What's the difference in the high between Delta-9 and regular THC?

THC is the cannabinoid responsible for getting high. The most abundant form of THC is Delta-9, which has the same intoxicating effect. In other words, it should feel about the same!

How can we send legal weed nationwide?

While THC is still only legal for recreational use in certain states, the 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp — and, therefore, hemp-derived cannabinoids — to be sold nationwide. The Farm Bill defines hemp as a plant containing less than 0.3% THC by weight, meaning they can be extracted for legal, recreational cannabinoids.
